Sports Education
"Sports Are the Primary Source of Confidence"
Principal Lu firmly believes that "sports are the primary source of confidence," because sports give children the most direct and honest feedback: running faster, jumping higher, persisting longer -- no "grading" required, the body tells the answer.
Sports teach three things:
- Losing Gracefully -- Winning and losing on the sports field is normal; more valuable than "always winning"
- Persistence -- Pushing one more breath at the limit internalizes into lifelong resilience
- Teamwork -- Basketball, football, relay races -- learning "how to succeed with others"
The school has built a multi-sport field and offers parkour, rugby, badminton, volleyball, tennis and more.
Device Management Policy
"Self-Discipline and Freedom Are Two Sides of the Same Coin"
Cogdel's scientific device management system was collaboratively designed by students, parents, and the school:
- Boarding students hand in phones to life mentors upon return each Sunday
- No student is allowed to carry phones during daytime on weekdays
- 30 minutes of phone use every other evening to contact family
- Course-specific devices available by teacher request
Student Self-Governance
The Student Council Is Not a "Little Officials' Club"
At Cogdel, the student council is a genuine self-governance organization. Candidates must deliver speeches, face questions, and win votes from the entire student body. The process itself is the most vivid lesson in democracy and leadership.
