Cogdel School Chengdu students have achieved strong results in the 2025 UK Biology Olympiad (Intermediate) / IBO qualifying round, with multiple awards at Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels and several students scoring in the top global percentiles.
The IBO Pathway
The Intermediate Biology Olympiad serves as a critical stepping stone toward the full International Biology Olympiad — one of the world's most prestigious science competitions. Success at this level demonstrates a deep understanding of biological principles across molecular biology, genetics, ecology, and physiology, as well as the ability to apply that understanding to novel experimental scenarios.

Biology is a particular strength at Cogdel, supported by our 40% laboratory experiment ratio and faculty who bring genuine research experience to their teaching. Students don't just learn about experimental design — they design and conduct experiments. By the time they sit for competitions like the BBO/IBO, they've internalized scientific thinking as a habit, not a test strategy.
