Cogdel School Chengdu students have achieved outstanding results in the 2026 British Biology Olympiad (BBO), organized by the Royal Society of Biology. Our students secured multiple awards at Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels, with several scoring in the top global percentiles.
About the BBO
The BBO is the UK's premier biology competition for secondary students, testing knowledge and application far beyond standard curriculum requirements. Topics span molecular biology, genetics, ecology, physiology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics. The competition challenges students to reason like biologists — to analyze data, interpret experimental results, and apply principles to unfamiliar biological systems.
Why Biology Competitions Matter
Biology is at the center of the 21st century's defining challenges — from genomics and personalized medicine to climate science and biodiversity conservation. For students considering careers in medicine, life sciences, or biotechnology, strong BBO results signal genuine scientific aptitude beyond exam performance.
From the Science Faculty
"The BBO doesn't test whether you've memorized the textbook — it tests whether you can think biologically. Our students' success reflects the inquiry-based approach we take in every science class: start with a phenomenon, ask questions, design investigations, analyze evidence. That's science, not just science class."
Congratulations to all BBO participants. Your intellectual curiosity about the living world — from molecular machinery to ecosystems — is exactly the kind of thinking our planet needs more of.
